Melinda Tavernier
Melinda graduated in 1991 from Winthrop University with a BS in Elementary Education. In 1996, she completed her Master's of Education in Supervision and Administration. She taught grades 3-7 in the SC public school system for 7 years. She is a former teacher educator for the SC Department of Education and has taught classes at Coastal Carolina University.
In 2001, the Lord called the Tavernier family into homeschooling. After finding it difficult to obtain information on homeschooling, she founded Vine and Branches Homeschool Association. The mission of Vine and Branches was to help new families find the resources needed to offer quality Christian education at home. In 2006, she served on the founding board of VBHE as several local homeschool groups merged to further this mission and become Vine and Branches Home Educators.
With the input of several homeschooling parents within VBHE, Pathways for Scholars was begun in 2009 under her leadership. With a deep love of learning and a desire to see children grow up in Christian environments, Melinda works diligently to create a quality learning environment for the students attending Pathways for Scholars.
Both Alexander and Emilie-Kate Tavernier attend Pathways for Scholars and enjoy the weekly interactions and challenges it offers.
